    NOW OPEN FOR PREVIEWS, THE PLAY HONORS THE ENDURING LEGACY OF ICONIC FASHION DESIGNER, LEE ALEXANDER MCQUEEN, IN NEW YORK CITY’S FIRST NEW OFF-BROADWAY THEATER SPACE IN OVER 20 YEARS

    [USA – August 19th, 2025] – House of McQueen, the highly anticipated off-Broadway production exploring the life and brilliance of Lee Alexander McQueen, is now in previews at The Mansion at Hudson Yards. A decade in the making, the play plunges the audience into a series of scenes that explore McQueen’s journey from working-class to global stardom, exploring relationships that defined him and the artistry that took the fashion world by storm.
    Written by award-winning playwright, Darrah Cloud, and directed by Sam Helfrich, House of McQueen is a deeply personal and authentic portrait of Lee Alexander McQueen, who is played by Bridgerton star Luke Newton (through September 28th). From his apprenticeship on Savile Row to helming Givenchy and later launching his own label, the play delves into the complicated relationships in his life with key figures including Isabella Blow (played by Catherine LeFrere) and his mother Joyce McQueen (played by Tony-nominated actress Emily Skinner).
    Surrounded by 1,000 square feet of LED screens, the play will transport ticket holders through a multisensory immersion into the late designer’s complicated world. Spearheaded by acclaimed producer Rick Lazes, and Lee’s nephew, artist and creative director Gary McQueen, the two-hour performance is set in The Mansion at Hudson Yards, a brand-new state-of-the-art theater space within which House of McQueen will be the first-ever performance. Home to 499 seats and endless capabilities, the venue marks an exciting new chapter for the arts in New York.
    In addition to the performance itself, The Mansion will be home to an exhibition of archival McQueen pieces, each carefully preserved in private collections throughout the years and many on display for the first time. Curated by Gill Linton, founder of contemporary vintage reseller, Byronesque, the exhibit will live in a separate room adjacent to the main theater space and be home to over 30 pieces ranging from 1995-2010. Some of McQueen’s most iconic collections will be represented, with archives from the likes of Dante (FW 1996), Widows of Culloden (FW 2006), Plato’s Atlantis (SS 2010), and much more. Ticket holders will have the opportunity to visit the exhibit prior to the performance or during intermission at no added cost.

    House of McQueen is now open for previews, with grand opening night slated for September 9th. Show times are at 7:00pm Tuesday through Friday, 2:00pm and 7:00pm on Saturdays, and 1:00pm and 5:00pm on Sundays. The performance is approximately two hours with an intermission and tickets range from $45- $225.

    About Gary James McQueen
    Gary James McQueen was first introduced to the fashion industry by his late uncle Alexander McQueen, who mentored and inspired him to be the artist he is today. Gary was employed as head textile designer for the Alexander McQueen Brand in 2005, where he experimented with how to integrate artwork with clothing design. He developed unique textile designs employing optical illusions while constantly pushing himself and the boundaries of what could be achieved using a 3D canvas. Gary’s artwork was featured in the Neplix documentary about Alexander McQueen, and he is responsible for the creation of the chrome skull, which became the iconic artwork for the Savage Beauty exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

    About Rick Lazes
    Rick Lazes is a multifaceted visual artist on the forefront of documentary film direction, musical performance production, and multimedia entertainment. Born and raised in Long Island, New York, Lazes went on to graduate from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in art, sociology and architecture, setting the foundation of his career as a three-dimensional artist, inventor and storyteller. In 2020, Lazes directed a feature length documentary titled Lennox Lewis the Untold Story about the life of heavyweight boxing champion Lennox Lewis, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and is currently airing on Amazon Prime. The film received 5-star reviews, and inspired Lazes to direct "Knock Out Blonde", the story of Frank Maloney, Lennox Lewis’s long-time boxing manager and promoter, which is currently airing on Amazon Prime and Apple TV. Lazes also produced one of HBO's most successful TV shows which featured Ray Charles, Fats Domino, Jerry Lee Lewis and Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones. Aside from his critically acclaimed work in film and music, Lazes is a sculptor, with mastery over a wide array of medias, and has presented his work in art shows, galleries and museums around the world. His passion for music, art, film, technology and sustainability has fostered an ever-expanding innovative storytelling.
